Where and what to look for
Check all openings, especially the power supply port. If your device has been infested with insects, there will be signs of insect droppings. Other signs are egg casings or egg clusters, that resemble brown capsules. Also, keep an eye out for the critters themselves. Often they can be clustered together inside your electronic item or under a power supply.
Prevention is better than cure
Keeping your electronic devices clean and doing regular insect infestation inspection is key to ensure your equipment stays bug free. Unplug the device, use a screwdriver to open it up and remove all the eggs and fecal matter from the device. We do not recommend using water or liquid cleaner. Instead, use brushes and a soft cloth or ear buds.
Use compressed air
Grab a can of compressed air with a thin spray tip and blow the dead insect bodies out of all the nooks and crannies of your electronic device. This will likely be a messy job as there may be live critters that will be flying out and they will start to scatter. We suggest doing this outdoors.
If your device can withstand cold temperatures
Most insects cannot withstand freezing temperatures. If your device is small and can handle freezing temperatures, put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in the freezer for 3 to 5 days.
